Early men were all naked. The trigger for inventing dresses wasn't exactly shame or fashion... not even peer pressure. I guess it was protection against adverse weather conditions. The day humans started covering themselves... was that the first step towards corruption? Or was it the day they... oops, we invented wheels? My memory is fading with age. I keep forgetting many useful and useless stuff everyday... but I still believe that corruption is an old habit. It's quite a natural instinct.
You have completed 7Y. How does it feel? You're at an age where you appreciate marriage as an essential factor for a baby to be born. A male and a female humans marry - this is the sole input to a black box and a baby (or two) is the natural output of that box. The transfer function embedded within the box is still unknown to you and I'm relieved till the box remains 'black' to you! You are exposed to experiencing Hindi movies in a theater - in fact we've taken you twice in last couple of months. You're able to grasp and decipher some of the quintessential relationship-oriented dialogues between the lead pairs. Often you're asking questions we're struggling to cook up convincing answers for. Yes... you're making good progress overall, though you're keeping us on the edge!
AAP is getting a second life; thanks to BJP's attention overdrive on the today's Delhi Assembly elections. Geographically it probably has valid reasons why BJP don't want to take chances - a BJP government at the center and a non-BJP government in Delhi don't look good. Maybe it offends 'Vastu'! There may be practical glitches to happiness - both for BJP and others. As a result, Amit Shah pitched in and put all his so-called strategies to win the Delhi election. Congress is a nobody today and quite naturally AAP stood out to be the only one to contend with. Mr. Kejriwal, who lost considerable ground and colleagues in last one year, is smiling today. In fact, opinion polls are predicting him as a potential CM in Delhi. That will be quite an achievement - given the heat of Modi wave that blew across the country of late. BJP made another odd move by accepting Kiran Bedi and nominating her as their CM candidate. It's a perfect filmy situation. Anna Hazare sulks back at Ralegan Siddhi with hardly any follower left beside him whereas his two high profile ex-followers are pitted against each other for a prestigious chair. Ain't that funny, Anna? Are you listening to "How does it feel" in a loop? Or you prefer the scene in Sholay where Mr. Asrani instructs half of his men to go the left, another half to the right and rest to follow him? Mr. Kejriwal, if you really make it to the seat, please wear a tight seat-belt for 5Y. It takes a lot money to conduct elections and 49D is too outrageous. Indian voters prefer to see celibacy, high voltage speeches, patriotic fervor and stage presence in their leaders... you're no match for Modi in these and don't take any more chances if there is a second time.
A friend was explaining about 'demand creation', an economic jargon. As examples he spoke of Kolkata Book Fair. True, a book fair can barely create new book-readers. It can only boost book sales. Almost all the books are available anyway. In the age of home delivery via online shopping, there are plenty of avenues of browsing through a catalog and ordering a book. However we are stuck to this annual ritual for so many years. I have nothing against it. It's fun for even a non-reader like me; happy faces, fast food and celebrities rubbing you off every now and then. It's a man-made cloudburst to help flash-sell thousands of books. Retail outlets, particularly those who sell everything, are another example. They are a make-a-wish society. Be there, start visualizing what you would love to have right now and buy in cash or credit. Instant creation of demand, often spurred by like-minded fellow shoppers, is pretty effective. That's 'our' valiant attempt to be on a par with 'them'.
