Elect or sleep

Wake up, if you're not voting you're sleeping. Better have some tea (preferably our brand). Well, the great Indian Tamasha has just begun. The media is on a roll. We'll see friendship and enmity brewing from unusual corners. Bonds make and break in a jiffy. Alliances rally, fronts march to Delhi, manifesto/common programmes get aired in all channels. The most intriguing part is the confidence with which they speak. It's time to serve the nation, fight for a greater cause, save the humanity. So wake up before going for a longer sleep. We all love this form of sports entertainment - T20 at its best. None wants a one-sided match, we crave for a nail-biting finish. There is no limit to the money that flows in and out - campaign, horse trade, charity. Look around for colorful posters - sometimes witty, hear a speech or watch a debate where all participants shell out razor-sharp arguments to cut each other. They all seem to have a point. Our democratic spirit approves any number of political flavors - we're ready to witness the birth of a party at the drop of a hat. Sometimes it's the leader who matters, in other times the party brand - whatever sells. India is a great market.
Recently we saw the US election - in fact some of us followed pretty closely. But we refuse to accept the concept. Funnily enough, there are so many things which we pick up from them but here we, for no good reason, tend to hold on to our tradition and sovereignty
! The result is plain and simple - we get what we deserve.
