Dark knight rises

  • Raanjhanaa does not make its way to my “top 10 movies”. But it is a beautiful movie. I have loved watching it and recommend to anyone. A Banaras, a Dhanush and a gripping drama, an AR Rahman, an amazing ensemble cast – more than a handful to recommend. Johars/Chopras have shown countless types of exotic locales – worldly cities, uncharted valleys… let them settle abroad. Come Banaras… with all its fading colors… its alleys, Ghats, temples – kind of trying to put up a fight against all the “globals”. The director clings to romance firmly and with intensity. He gets all the support from everyone in the team. Dhanush leads the pack. I never knew about his screen presence and emoting capabilities – was actually skeptic about his National award – am impressed now. What a stellar act! Dhanush, the antithesis of a commercial hindi film hero, actually silently killed an airy giant called Hrithik Roshan. Honestly.. why do we need a Hrithik Roshan? Anyway, I am not optimistic about Dhanush's career in Bollywood, but I am very happy that Raanjhanaa is having a good run at the BO.

  • Everything is FMCG – like a bread or milk. Buy, use and buy again asap. The best brains are into Business Management which effectively helps the whole world look like a market. IIT & IIM combination is definitely a mark of the most respected class of modern India. This is a sacrosanct class of India, the best academic institutions, the most difficult entrance tests… someone of this club is undoubtedly an elite. Some of these brains do as they wish – they chase their dreams. But there is a significant portion of this population who take up cozy jobs to sell products on behalf of their employers. They earn a lot of money, with minimal risks. They don’t try to innovate or enjoy. If all their hard work, discipline, passion, dedication, luck and brain – that brought them this far – cannot inspire them to innovate or dream – what else would? Selling something after so much of training over the years is challenging, but not good enough for me. They have every right to earn hell lot of money, lifestyle, coziness, and stability in life once they leave the B-schools – but I feel they show disrespect to their teacher and institutions at the end of day, when they choose to sell on someone else’ behalf. And they keep switching jobs - from one product to another, sometimes an arch-rival of the previous one! That proves their is no attachment or conviction to the product or the organization. I have closely seen people who had no career option open to them except carrying a bag door to door, earning a hell lot of curse throughout the day and putting up a smart face to show "all is well" to their families. They managed a meager living calling themselves “salesmen”. The diagonally opposite end of the spectrum does the same. Isn't it funny?
